Makes two 12" dough sculptures
Ingredients
- 1 packet yeast (2¼ tsp)
- 2 cups warm water
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 5 cups flour mixed with 2 tsp salt
- extra flour to have on hand for dusting
- small bowl of water to “glue" bread pieces together
- non-stick spray for baking sheet
How-to
- Preaheat oven to 350º
- In a large bowl, whisk together yeast, water and sugar. Allow to sit 5 minutes until frothy and bubbly
- Whisk in oil. With a wooden spoon, slowly incorporate flour
- Turn over onto floured board to knead in remaining flour. If too wet, dust with extra flour
- Knead with the palms of your hands for about 10 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic
- Form into shapes of choice. Use water to “glue” pieces of bread together
- Spray 2 sheet pans with nonstick spray
- Place sculptures on sheet pans and allow to rest and rise 15-20 minutes in a warm area
- Bake 20-30 minutes. Allow to cool and enjoy!
