Tie Lewis shows how to turn a few simple ingredients into the Southern rendition of a custard pie. A rich eggy custard base is made with buttermilk, giving this pie its distinctive tangy undertone. We recommend trying this pie warm out the oven, served with your favorite preserves or lemon curd.
Tiesha "Tie" Lewis began baking before she she could even reach the stove. She grew up in the kitchens of her aunts and grandmothers where baking was more than a pastime — it was a passion. She's kept that passion going and is currently the Head Baker at a gluten-free bakery in the Boston area, whipping up an endless array of cookies, cakes, muffins and pies. Although many of her recipes are tried and trusted family heirlooms, Tie is just as happy exploring new flavor combinations at the bakery or in her home kitchen. She is currently completing her graduate work in Gastronomy, where she is studying the evolution of wedding cakes.
