Adam Lantheaume is the proprietor of The Boston Shaker in Somerville, MA. One of his goals is to provide information, tools and ingredients to experienced and novice home bartenders in a comfortable, non-intimidating way. Recipe

Ingredients

Makes 1 Cocktail

  • 3-4 drops orange blossom water*
  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice
  • ½ oz fresh lime juice
  • 2-3 tsp super-fine bar sugar (or ½ oz simple syrup which is a 1:1 mix of sugar & water, heated until sugar dissolves)
  • 3-4 drops vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg white
  • ½ oz half & half
  • 2 oz gin
  • 1 cup large ice cubes
  • 1 oz soda water

*also called orange flower water

Special Equipment

  • cocktail shaker
  • strainer

How-to

  1. In a large cocktail shaker, combine lime juice, lemon juice, orange blossom water, sugar (or simple syrup), vanilla extract, gin, egg white, half & half
  2. Shake vigorously
  3. Add ice and shake until the shaker frosts over
  4. Strain mixture into 8-oz glass. Slowly pour soda water into the glass and serve
