Beverages Citrus Garnishes

Citrus Garnishes

Lemon twists and orange slices look nice placed casually in a cocktail. But don't overlook the nuanced flavors citrus oils add to a beverage. Coat the rim of a glass with a lemon twist. Squeeze its precious oils into a drink. Even fire up an orange peel! Citrus is more than just a pretty peel.

About Adam Lantheaume

Adam Lantheaume is the proprietor of The Boston Shaker in Somerville, MA. One of his goals is to provide information, tools and ingredients to experienced and novice home bartenders in a comfortable, non-intimidating way. He believes that too often folks shy away from making cocktails for themselves and their guests because it feels overly-complicated or cumbersome, but just like cooking, a little experience goes a long way and in no time people can be treating themselves to their favorite cocktails. It's about enjoying the preparation as much as one would enjoy the final product. To learn more about Adam and The Boston Shaker, visit  www.thebostonshaker.com

You never stop learning... I already have a few more tips regarding lighting the Orange Peel! 1. Hold the peel on the side, not the top and bottom like I was. Keeps your fingers out of the way of the match and lets you hold it closer to the flame. 2. Get good oranges! Unfortunately, that one was really dry, but you'll see a much larger flame from an orange that has more citrus oil to share. Please give it a try, you'll be surprise with how well it works. Enjoy your cocktails, everyone! a. (May 21, 2009 6:09:43 PM)
