Sides BBQ Baked Beans

BBQ Baked Beans

BBQ Dave strikes again. This time with a baked beans recipe you won't be able to resist. I mean, it has whiskey in it. Not to mention our friends bacon, BBQ sauce and red onion which, when baked long and low, create a heavenly dish indeed.

BBQ Baked Beans

About Dave Gajee

Dave has been "BBQ Dave" for about 15 years now. He focuses on making BBQ taste great both on the outside and from within which is the part he felt was lacking in other BBQ. Dave likes to take things slow and give his BBQ the time, love and attention it needs. Try his recipes and you'll see that the waiting pays off.

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 cups pork and beans
  • 1 medium red onion onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped garlic
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar cane syrup
  • 1/2 lb chopped bacon (preferably hickory or apple smoked)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • whiskey or dark beer
  • 2-3 tbsp mustard powder

How-to

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  1. Pour pork and beans into casserole dish
  2. Mix in chopped red onion, garlic, sugar cane syrup, bacon and BBQ sauce
  3. Drizzle in some whiskey or dark beer
  4. Add mustard powder and mix in
  5. Bake for 2-3 hours at 350 degrees (depending on how crispy you like the top)
  6. Spoon out servings for your guests

I made these on a whim this week - no special reason, I just wanted to - and they're incredible! Thanks BBQ Dave for sharing. (Oct 3, 2008 7:34:09 PM)
