Dessert & Baked Goods » Spritz Cookies
These adorable Spritz Cookies come from Jane's catalog of goodies. Sugar cookies are raised to a new level with the decorative design of a cookie press and the addition of colorful maraschino cherries. They'll look so pretty on your table but probably won't stay there very long. We know that once the word is out that "Jane made cookies!" it's first come-first serve and then they're gone!
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2¼ cup flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- dash salt
- 1 tsp almond extract
- maraschino cherries, cut in half
Special Equipment
- cookie press
How-to
- Preheat oven to 375°
- In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar

- Add flour, baking powder, salt & almond extract and mix well
- Fill a cookie press with dough and press out shapes on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat
- Add half a maraschino cherry to each cookie and bake at 375° for about 8-10 minutes, keeping an eye on them so they don't burn, until edges are golden brown
