Dessert & Baked Goods » Rum Sauce
John Verlinden of Mucho Gusto makes a buttery, brown sugar and rum sauce in 5 minutes. Drizzle over John's Plantain Bread Pudding, ice cream, coffee cake, or any dessert that calls for some extra oomph. Once made, the sauce can be refrigerated for later use. Just give it a quick turn in the microwave as its best served warm.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp butter
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 3 tbsp white rum
How-to
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat
- Mix the cornstarch and sugar together and stir into the butter until combined
- Add the milk and cook stirring frequently until the mixture boils and thickens, 3-5 minutes
- Remove from heat, and stir in rum
- Serve warm
Note: Sauce can be refrigerated for later use; a quick turn in the microwave will refresh it
