Rum Sauce

Makes about 1½ cups

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp white rum

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat
  2. Mix the cornstarch and sugar together and stir into the butter until combined
  3. Add the milk and cook stirring frequently until the mixture boils and thickens, 3-5 minutes
  4. Remove from heat, and stir in rum
  5. Serve warm

Note: Sauce can be refrigerated for later use; a quick turn in the microwave will refresh it
