Rialto restaurant's Wine Director, Taira Slone, shakes up a pear-lover's martini. Don't let the subdued hues of pear liqueur, pear nectar and vodka fool you. This martini packs a punch. A finishing touch of freshly-grated cinnamon adds just the right amount of spice and aroma. Try dipping the fresh pear garnish into the cocktail for a great contrast in textures. We think that beats an olive any day!
Rialto restaurant's Wine Director, Taira Slone, developed her affinity for wine when she realized wine grows in her favorite places to travel and places she hopes to visit. Her appreciation for wine developed when she moved to Phoenix, Arizona to launch an Italian restaurant & lounge, Privè, in the San Carolos Hotel. In 2003, Taira moved back to Boston with a desire to get into fine dining and began her wine education at Boston University’s Wine Studies Program. Taira joined the Columbus Hospitality Group as beverage manager of Teatro, a contemporary Italian restaurant. After two years Taira moved within the group to Sorellina and spent four years as the beverage manager. In Taira’s time at Sorellina she completed the Boston University Level III & Court of Master Sommeliers Level I certification.
