Classic red and white peppermint candies have an aroma that'll lift anybody's spirits. And what's not to love about angel food cake? Put them together and you have Francesca Wanucha's fragrant and festive dessert. Fresh lemon juice gives an added oomph to the batter. Once cooled and out of the pan, garnish with powdered sugar, crushed or whole pieces of candy and may we suggest a nice big scoop of ice cream?

Serving Suggestion - Goes great with peppermint stick ice cream!
Francesca Wanucha loves baking. In fact, her whole family has always been into cooking - and no packaged products for this group - everything from scratch. Her education in communications and anthropology, and job at the Ivy Street School in Brookline, MA (a school for children with brain injuries), share space with the fact that Francesca would secretly like to work in a bakery. No secret now! The cat's out of the bag. And speaking of cats, Francesca adores her adorable feline friends, Skylar and Oliver.
