Chef Jose Duarte's Tips

  1. Conserve Water.  Clean or replace the aerator on the water spout.  This will reduce water consumption but will not affect water pressure
  2. Energy Star Products.  Check for the Energy Star label on appliances.  They use less energy and will save you money
  3. Energy Efficient Light Bulbs.  Use dimmable lights, CFL (compact fluorescent) or LED (light-emitting diodes).  These use much less energy than incandescent light bulbs
  4. Composting.  This will reduce trash and can be used as fertilizer for your yard
  5. Buy Local.  Visit your local Farmers' Market.  Buying locally grown products reduces trucking in products from great distances, thus reducing vehicle emissions
