Pie Crust Decorations


  • leftover chilled pie dough (see Susan Reid's Pie Crust 101 video here on how2heroes)
  • 1 egg + small amount of water for eggwash
  • sparking sugar
  • cookie cutters
  • plastic wrap
  • rolling pin
  • parchment paper


  1. Preheat oven to 425º (adjust higher or lower if you just baked a pie)
  2. Roll chilled dough to ¼" to ⅛" thick thick
  3. Cut shapes and score lightly with a knife
  4. Brush with eggwash and sprinkle with sparkling sugar
  5. Bake at 425º for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown
  6. Add to one-crust pie as decoration or cover filling completely as top crust
