The Bishop


  • 1 lemon, cut into wheels
  • ¾ ounce simple syrup
  • ice cubes
  • 1 oz rum
  • 2 oz full-bodied red wine, such as a Cabernet Sauvignon
  • lemon slice for garnish


  1. Add the lemon wheels and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker. Muddle well with a muddler or wooden spoon
  2. Fill the cocktail shaker halfway full with ice cubes. Add the rum. Shake well
  3. Add a few ice cubes a sturdy red wine glasse or goblet. Strain the mix over the ice
  4. Add the red wine. Stir briefly, but seriously. Garnish with the lemon slice and serve
