Hazelnut Hot Chocolate

Makes 4 (10-oz each) servings

Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • ¼ cup high-quality Dutch cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup malted milk powder
  • ½ cup (3 oz) chocolate chips, 60% cocoa
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • ¼ cup chocolate hazelnut spread

How-to

  1. Bring the milk to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat (will take 5-10 minutes - milk will bubble and foam)
  2. While the milk is heating, in the container of a blender, combine cocoa, sugar, malted milk powder, chocolate chips, vanilla extract, salt and hazelnut spread
  3. When the milk has come to a boil, carefully pour into the blender
  4. Remove the center cap from the the blender lid (to help steam escape) and hold a towel over the lid before blending
  5. Begin blending, starting on low speed and gradually increasing to high speed, from 30 seconds to 1 minute total
  6. Distribute evenly among four 10-oz mugs
