We recently visited Portland, Oregon to capture a slice of the food culture in this great city. What we found were endless opportunities for an outstanding meal in a wide range of settings from food carts to fancy restaurants and friendly homes.
Featured here are fantastic how-to's from some of our favorites. Thanks to everyone in Portland (aka PDX to the locals) for their hospitality. Such an incredibly friendly city. Check out our blog for more photos and details of our trip to this culinary-inspired corner of the Pacific Northwest.

America's Food Cart Mecca
There are over 400(!) food carts in Portland - in pockets all over the city, serving up a wide range of inexpensive and flavorful bites. Some are open late night, others during business hours. All cooking in confined spaces and enjoying every minute of it. There's something for everyone and every taste. Makes us wonder why every city doesn't embrace food cart culture! You hear that, Mayor Menino?!

The Restaurant Scene
While we couldn't begin to cover all the great restaurants in Portland, we did bring you 2 of the best. Screen Door has lines out the door every day as New Orleans natives serve Southern classics and out-of-this-world breakfasts. Toro Bravo is an award-winning tapas restaurant where Chef John Gorham practices sustainability, celebrates local ingredients and house-smokes some damn good meats. The dishes they've created for you here are the kind you dream about. Enjoy.

At Home in Portland
When Portland's residents aren't kicking back at a microbrewery or dining out on the town, they're at home creating their own dishes and entertaining friends or enjoying a quiet night taking in the view of Mount Hood. See what's cooking in Brian's and Jason's kitchens.

You might be surprised to learn
that this Portland has more restaurants per capita than any city
in America. And we're not just talking lobster shacks (although we love them of course). Watch these videos to get a taste of Portland.
