We're taking you on a different kind of farm tour this week. An oyster farm tour on the Atlantic ocean with Island Creek Oysters. How do you actually grow oysters? How long does it take before they're ready to harvest? What are the qualities of the perfect oyster? And the age-old question - how do you shuck the damn things? Watch the videos below to learn how small microscopic seeds turn into the briny, beautiful mollusks we love to eat. And learn some creative recipes for oysters from some of Boston's top chefs. |

You think cooking in the kitchen can be difficult? Try doing it on rocky seas, aboard the Nathaniel Bowditch, a Windjammer Schooner from Rockland, Maine. We visited Chef Paul Dorr in the galley of the boat when he and his crew were docked in Boston for the Tall Ships event. What we experienced was one happy chef who is able to work wonders with an old kerosene cast iron stove and a little ingenuity. This dessert is the go-to dessert he loves because it's quick and a crowd pleaser. |
