When watching a video, I see the video but hear no sound. What's wrong?

First, check the volume on the player. If the blue dot on the volume controls is all the way to the left, drag it to the right. If you still don't hear sound, check to make sure you do not have any headphones or other devices plugged into the computer that might be rerouting your audio. If this doesn't help, and other applications don't make sound, check your system preferences to make sure your audio is not muted.

On Mac OS...

  1. Open System Preferences and click Sound.
  2. Click on the Output tab.
  3. Make sure that Built-in Output is selected, that the output volume is turned up, and that Mute is not checked.

On Windows...

  1. Go to the Start menu and choose Run
  2. Type "sndvol32"
  3. Click OK
  4. Make sure that "Master Volume" and "Wave" are turned up, and that neither is muted.
